PRESENTATIONSANROMA I, S.L. is a manufacturer and importer of jokes and articles for carnival, stag and hen parties, Halloween and parties in general. We only sell wholesale and to shops. We do not sell to individuals.

HISTORYIn 1942, soon after the end of the Spanish Civil War, Miquel Sanromà i Fuguet was a young man, who had seen most of his youth lost during the war and the post-war years but still, in spite of this, had an entrepreneurial bent, unlike most people of his generation. At that time, he was working for Industrial Bolsera, a bag and packaging company, and in his spare time he started to machine little, hard-to-solve wire puzzles to entertain people. The moment came when he began to believe in his own potential and he decided to venture into the creation of a company making articles for entertainment, with the ever-present support of his wife, Maria Costa i Mola. At first, he had the ideas and she made the articles, and they both sold and delivered them. Later on, they began to need outside help because demand was growing. As their four sons grew up, they too helped in the family firm: after school ended, their parents always had a task for them. In those early years, the company and the house where they lived in the neighbourhood of Sants in Barcelona (around Eusebi Planas, Salou and Watt Streets) were one and the same place. It was not until many years later, in 1972, that the company moved to Bartomeu Pi St., where it stayed until 1986 when we moved to L’Hospitalet, our current location. Each move was always the result of the previous premises becoming too small for the company. At first we only sold little “labyrinths” that were handmade in wire, but little by little a whole series of jokes was introduced, some of which we have been selling for over 60 years (exploding cigars, stink bombs, fake dog dirt, etc). As well as increasing our stock of jokes , in the sixties we began to include carnival items (masks, beards and moustaches, wigs and all kinds of accessories) that were updated each year with the latest novelties. Later on, we also added articles for parties and some years after that articles for stag and hen parties (if grandfather could see us now!).Finally, some years ago, Halloween began to become popular and we now sell all kinds of articles related to this celebration. This is the basic history of a family business that grew out of an idea and the wish of a couple of entrepreneurs to succeed. It has continued into the second generation, which grew up surrounded by this spirit of togetherness and hard work. We hope that the third generation will not give up and that for many more years to come we will be able to continue to give the same pleasure to people as we have up to now. |
